Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic procedure designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts.

Women who have sagging breasts, or who have lost volume and firmness due to aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations, may be good candidates for breast lift surgery.

Preparing for surgery includes avoiding blood thinning medications, quitting smoking (ideally) and following fasting guidelines. Also, thoroughly clean your skin with an antiseptic for optimal safety.

Possible short-term complications include bleeding, infection, suture rejection, and necrosis of the skin, fat or nipple (although very rare). In the long term, loss of nipple sensation, partial drooping of the breast, and poor healing may occur.
