Dental Implant + Crown in Miami, FL

Dental Implant + Crown - VittoMD

A dental implant is a modern prosthetic solution made from titanium or zirconium, acting as an artificial root to replace missing teeth.

It restores both the look of a natural smile and the strength needed for proper dental function. The implant procedure involves drilling a small hole in the jawbone to insert a titanium or zirconium post. Titanium is commonly used due to its biocompatibility, allowing it to fuse with the bone through osseointegration. After a few months, once the implant is securely integrated, a custom ceramic crown is placed on top, matching the natural teeth in shape, size, and color for a seamless, durable, and aesthetically pleasing result.

More about this Procedure

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. The titanium implant post integrates permanently with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. The crown placed on top typically lasts 10 to 15 years before it may need replacement due to normal wear, but the implant itself can last decades with proper care.

Is dental implant surgery painful?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and sometimes sedation, so you will not feel pain during the surgery. Post-operative discomfort is mild to moderate and is managed effectively with prescribed pain medications. Most patients find recovery much easier than expected.

How long does the dental implant process take?

The full implant process typically takes 3 to 6 months from placement to final crown. After placing the implant post, we allow 3 to 4 months for osseointegration (bone fusion) before attaching the crown. Some cases with adequate bone density may qualify for immediate loading, shortening treatment time.

Who is a candidate for dental implants?

Ideal candidates are adults with good overall and oral health, sufficient jawbone density, and healthy gums. Patients who smoke, have uncontrolled diabetes, or are undergoing radiation therapy may have reduced success rates. A comprehensive evaluation including X-rays or a CT scan will determine your candidacy.

How do I care for my dental implant?

Care for your implant exactly like a natural tooth: brush twice daily, floss around the implant using floss threaders or a water flosser, and attend regular dental cleanings. Avoid smoking, which impairs healing and long-term implant success. Annual check-ups allow us to monitor the implant and surrounding bone health.
